A deep clean is a one-off, top-to-bottom clean of your home that goes well beyond a weekly wipe-round. It reaches behind and under things, tackles the grease and limescale that build up over months, and leaves every room properly reset. Homeowners in Essex book a deep clean as a spring clean, before or after a move, after an illness or a hectic few months, or ahead of a family occasion.

When a deep clean makes sense

The classic reason is a spring clean, but there are plenty of others. Moving into a home that the previous owners left grubby is one; getting a house ready to sell is another. After someone in the household has been unwell, you may want everything washed down. A new baby, a long spell of overtime or a renovation can all leave a home needing more than a quick tidy, and a deep clean before guests arrive takes the pressure off.

It is also the right way to start a regular cleaning routine. Bringing the home to a high standard first means weekly or fortnightly visits can maintain it rather than chase months of build-up.

What a deep clean reaches

We move appliances and furniture that can be moved safely and clean behind and underneath them. Skirting boards, doors, frames and handles are washed rather than dusted, and light switches, sockets, light fittings and lampshades are cleaned. Radiators are cleaned on the front and, where they can be reached, between the panels and behind.

In bathrooms, limescale is removed from taps, shower screens and heads, and grout is scrubbed. Window sills and internal glass are cleaned, cobwebs are cleared from ceilings and corners, and if cupboards and wardrobes have been emptied we clean inside them too.

Kitchen deep clean

The kitchen is usually the room that benefits most. With the cupboards emptied, we clean them inside and out, including shelves, hinges and handles. Tiles and splashbacks are degreased, the extractor hood is cleaned on the outside and its metal filters washed, and the hob is cleaned thoroughly. The microwave and fridge are cleaned inside, the sink, taps and drainer are descaled, and we clean behind the cooker where it can be pulled out.

A kitchen deep clean can be booked on its own if the rest of the house is in good shape. The inside of the oven is a separate, more detailed job covered by our oven cleaning service, and it is easy to add.

Agreeing the scope

Every home is different, so before the day we agree a list: which rooms are included, what bothers you most and anything that should be left alone. You know exactly what will be cleaned. If something is beyond what cleaning can fix, such as grout that has cracked and needs replacing, we will tell you rather than leave you expecting a result we cannot give.

Add-ons for the same visit

A deep clean pairs well with other services. Carpets can be cleaned once the dusting is finished, the oven can be stripped down and cleaned, and fabric sofas can have upholstery cleaning. If tiles and grout are badly stained, our dedicated tile and grout cleaning goes further than a general scrub. Booking them together means one planned visit rather than several.

If you want to keep the home at that level afterwards, our regular house cleaning can follow on from the deep clean.

Deep Cleaning FAQs

What is the difference between a deep clean and a regular clean?

A regular clean maintains a lived-in home. A deep clean is a one-off that goes behind appliances, inside cupboards, into grout and limescale, and over every skirting board and door.

Can you deep clean just the kitchen?

Yes. A kitchen deep clean can be booked on its own, covering cupboards inside and out, tiles, the extractor hood, hob, fridge, microwave and sink.

Do I need to empty my cupboards first?

If you want the insides cleaned, yes. Emptying them before we arrive lets us clean every shelf and corner.

Is oven cleaning part of a deep clean?

The outside of the oven and the hob are included. Cleaning inside the oven is a separate service that can be added to the same visit.
