Short answer
The cost of a deep clean depends mainly on the size of the home, how many rooms are included and how long it has been since it was last cleaned thoroughly. Kitchen-only or whole-home, moving and cleaning behind appliances, limescale and grout, and add-ons such as the oven, carpets and upholstery all change the scope. Agreeing a room-by-room list before the day is the best way to get an accurate quote.
Why a deep clean is quoted on scope
A deep clean reaches the places a regular clean leaves alone: behind and under furniture, inside cupboards, between radiator panels and along every skirting board. How much of that a home needs varies enormously. A house that has had regular cleaning and just wants a spring clean is a different job from one that has gone a long time without a thorough clean, or one left grubby by previous owners. A fair quote reflects the agreed list, not a standard figure.
The factors that change the quote
- Size and number of rooms: bedrooms, bathrooms, living spaces, a home office or a conservatory each add to the list.
- Time since the last thorough clean: months or years of build-up on skirting, light fittings and behind furniture take more work than a recent clean.
- Kitchen-only or whole home: a kitchen deep clean can be booked on its own if the rest of the house is in good shape.
- Appliances moved and cleaned: pulling out the cooker, fridge or washing machine to clean behind and underneath, and cleaning inside the fridge and microwave.
- Limescale and grout: heavy scale on taps, shower screens and heads, and dark grout, add to bathroom and kitchen time; badly stained grout may suit dedicated tile and grout cleaning.
- Inside cupboards and wardrobes: these can only be cleaned inside once they have been emptied.
- Add-ons: the inside of the oven, carpets and fabric sofas are separate, more detailed jobs that can be added to the same visit.
- Furnished or empty: furniture takes time to clean around and move, while an empty home can be cleaned without obstruction.
What a good quote should include
A clear deep clean quote should be built on an agreed list, so you know exactly what will be done. Look for:
- Every room included, and anything that should be left alone.
- Which appliances and furniture will be moved and cleaned behind.
- Whether the inside of cupboards, wardrobes, the fridge and microwave are included.
- How limescale, grout and the extractor hood will be dealt with.
- Any add-ons, such as oven, carpet or upholstery cleaning, priced separately.
- An honest note of anything cleaning cannot fix, such as cracked grout that needs replacing.
How to compare quotes like for like
Deep clean is not a fixed term, so two quotes can mean quite different things. One may include moving appliances and cleaning inside cupboards while another does not, and one may include the oven while another treats it as an extra. Ask each company for a room-by-room list and compare against it. Our deep cleaning checklist sets out what a thorough clean normally reaches, which makes a useful list to compare against.

Ways to keep the cost down
Empty the cupboards you want cleaned inside, clear clutter from surfaces and floors, and tell the cleaner which rooms matter most. If only the kitchen or bathrooms really need attention, book those rather than the whole house. Following a deep clean with regular visits keeps the home at that standard, so another full deep clean is needed less often.
When to call a professional
A professional deep clean makes sense for a spring clean, before or after a move, after illness or a hectic few months, ahead of a family occasion, or as the starting point for a regular routine. It is also worth considering when the build-up is more than you have time to tackle yourself.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a deep clean cost?
It depends on the size of the home, the rooms included, how long since the last thorough clean, appliances moved, limescale and grout, and any add-ons. A quote based on an agreed list is the only reliable figure.
Is a kitchen deep clean cheaper than a whole-house deep clean?
It is a smaller job, so it is usually quoted on its own scope. It suits homes where the rest of the house is already in good shape.
Do you deep clean offices?
Yes. Offices and commercial premises are covered by our office deep cleaning service, scoped at a free site visit.
