Baked-on grease builds up a little every time you cook, until the door glass has turned brown, the racks are black and the oven smokes as it heats up. Direct Cleaning Services cleans ovens, hobs, grills and extractor hoods in homes across Essex. Removable parts are taken out and cleaned properly, the oven itself is cleaned inside, and everything is put back so the kitchen is ready to use.

What gets cleaned

Inside the oven we clean the walls, roof, base and back panel. The racks, shelf runners, baking trays and grill pan are removed and cleaned separately. Door glass is cleaned on both sides, and where the door design allows the panes to be separated, the gap between them is cleaned too, which is where a lot of brown staining hides.

The door seal, handle and control panel are wiped down, and the grill compartment is cleaned on cookers that have one. On the hob, gas burners and pan supports are cleaned, or ceramic and induction glass is cleaned and polished.

Why it is more than a spray and wipe

Shop-bought oven sprays soften surface grease, but they struggle with the carbonised layers in corners, on racks and between glass panes, and they leave strong fumes in a closed kitchen. Removing the parts and cleaning them away from the oven cavity means racks and trays come back clean on every side, not just the top.

Many ovens also have special linings. Catalytic liners are designed to absorb grease and should not be scrubbed, and pyrolytic ovens have their own self-clean cycle. We check what type you have before starting so each surface is treated correctly.

Single, double and range cookers

We clean single built-in ovens, double ovens, freestanding cookers and range cookers with several cavities. AGA-style range cookers are built differently and are discussed when you ask for a quote. It helps to tell us the make and model, or to send a photo of the oven and hob, so we know what to expect before we arrive.

Extractor hoods

The outside of the hood and canopy is degreased, and metal grease filters are taken out and cleaned. Charcoal filters, found on recirculating hoods, are designed to be replaced rather than cleaned, so we will let you know if yours look due for a change. The ducting inside walls and ceilings is not part of an oven clean.

Before and after the clean

Please make sure the oven is switched off and cool when we arrive, and clear the hob and the worktop beside it so there is room to work. When the clean is finished, the oven is reassembled and checked, and we will tell you on the day when it is ready to use again.

Oven cleaning alongside other work

An oven clean is often the last job before a tenancy check-out, so it fits naturally with an end of tenancy clean. It also pairs with a home deep clean, where the rest of the kitchen is cleaned at the same visit. If you have regular house cleaning, the outside of the oven is wiped each time and the inside can be booked as an occasional extra.

Oven Cleaning FAQs

When can I use my oven after it has been cleaned?

We reassemble and check the oven at the end of the clean and confirm on the day when it is ready to use.

Can you clean range cookers and AGA-style ovens?

Range cookers with several cavities can be cleaned. AGA-style ranges are built differently, so tell us the make and model when you ask for a quote.

Do you clean extractor hoods?

Yes. The outside of the hood is degreased and metal grease filters are cleaned. Charcoal filters need replacing rather than cleaning, and internal ducting is not included.

What should I do before you arrive?

Make sure the oven is switched off and cool, and clear the hob and nearby worktop so there is space to work.
