A car park or forecourt is often the first part of a business a visitor uses, and it takes a lot of punishment. Direct Cleaning Services pressure washes car parks, forecourts and loading yards for businesses across Essex, dealing with oil and tyre marks, chewing gum, moss and weeds, and working in sections so your site can stay open.
What builds up
Vehicles leave oil drips in parking bays and black tyre marks where they turn. Pedestrian routes collect chewing gum, particularly near entrances and pay machines. Shaded edges and corners turn green with moss and algae, and weeds root in the joints of block paving and in cracks along kerbs. Together these make the surface look neglected and, where growth builds up, can make it slippery underfoot.
How the surface is cleaned
The area is pressure washed with a method suited to the material, whether tarmac, concrete, block paving or resin. Oil stains are pre-treated before washing so more of the mark lifts, although older stains that have soaked in may lighten rather than disappear. Chewing gum is softened and removed separately, because a jet wash alone tends to leave a grey mark. Moss and weeds are cleared from joints and edges, and block paving joints can be re-sanded afterwards where needed.
Clearer bay markings
Faded bays, arrows and pedestrian crossings often look worse than they are because they are covered in grime. Cleaning the surface brings back as much contrast as the existing paint allows, helping drivers and pedestrians read the layout. Where lines are worn right through, the cleaned surface is ready for a lining contractor to repaint.
Keeping the site open
Few businesses can shut their car park for the day. The work is planned in sections, so part of the car park or yard is cleaned while the rest stays in use, with cones or barriers keeping vehicles and people clear of the area being washed. Visits are arranged within our working hours of 8am to 6pm, around deliveries, shift changes and busy customer periods.
Where the water goes
Washing a large paved area produces a lot of dirty water, and it needs to go somewhere sensible. Before starting, we look at where the drains and gullies are, which way the surface falls and whether anything needs protecting, such as planting beds or a neighbouring property. Oil and silt need care near drains, and the method is planned with that in mind. Any drainage rules your site already has can be discussed at the visit.
Sites that benefit
Car park and forecourt cleaning suits business park and office car parks, retail park and shop forecourts, yards and loading bays on industrial estates, schools, churches and community buildings, and private parking at blocks of flats. It can be booked as a one-off before an event or inspection, or on a schedule that keeps the surface in good order between visits.
